String Theory***

I walk alone in the forest

Talking with the trees and moss

that match my breath, buoy my step

As if the spiral of time makes a telephone cord with our long conversations

I walk with my dog in the woods

Our silent strides in sync, pressing gently on the earth

Passing through places that have been waiting for us since we were born

As if the leash between us forms a tether to all things before and yet to come

I walk with a group of beloveds, human & more than human, I have yet to know yet already familiar

Some walk behind me

Some walk in front of me

As if we are a string of prayer beads

Each one of us adding our prayers here in the grand forest—

No one ahead, no one behind

on this Spirit journey

I walk with HER, mother earth,

Feeling her abundance with every breath, every step

as if she adorns me with

the promise string of pearls,

the same necklace of reciprocity she gives to everyone

Strung through the wheel of time

Giving over the gifts of precious rounds

threading strawberries, raspberries,

then tay berries, peas, peaches, melons

come apples, squash, onions, potatoes

adding cranberries, almonds, chestnuts, lacing wild blueberries in never ending generosity

This universal string theory

Threads my prayers everywhere

Adding my dogs dreams

Tying in all of your concerns with constellations of spirit here & elsewhere

As if the Earth’s miracles of growing something from nothing all year long,

vibrate all of us collectively in ONE song

In gratitude, grace,

In beauty of bounty

In belonging to the String

that never breaks

***String theory is a theoretical framework in physics that proposes that the fundamental constituents of the universe are not point-like particles, but rather one-dimensional vibrating strings.
