Collective-effervescence
An old, new-to-me word
as if the word itself collected like seashells tossed by generational tides
Rare pearls gathered over decades strung here now around each neck
By the generosity of spirit
As if the wish on “the first star I see tonight” collected every night for 100 years
Lights up the whole sky here now by the dreams danced in community
As if the kiss on my forehead by my mom every morning
years of love collected now pours over the brow of my newborn granddaughter,
pours into my prayers for every child of god
Collective effervescence—
Joy
only created,
only experienced
by the wonder of being Alive,
a sensation of Aliveness in our body of the whole of Life itself
As if in saying the word through my throat,
my mouth forms pop rocks under my tongue,
celebrating the fireworks coming from all hearts beating, all tree rings growing…
all the tiny daisies blooming
An Aliveness that lives everywhere all at once,
through us and all things before and beyond our lifetimes
As if the whole ocean felt within the salty drop of each of our tears of joy
Collective effervescence
Say it with me now
