Catching Spring

Daisies open their mitts wide to the sun

Catching spring in the outfields of everywhere as if a contagion of joy

A collective vision rising to sing in the earths greening stadium,

Pledging allegiance to renewal, rebirth, landscape of hope

And the season’s widening sky

Catching the lengthening sunlight

Making more time for blooming of insight

Flower power—sporting team spirit, opening spring training with faces fully painted

Catching frozen fly balls in April’s miracles of mayhem;

hail, wind, swirling pollen, drizzle, fog, pushing clouds, pressing earth,

Endurance training in fervent luminosity

Catching all our hearts attention—

To the exquisite beauty of impermanence

To the sweetest of hope that lives within the challenge of change
